First, the new business rule feature is extremely helpful as it greatly enhances the user experience and strengthens various processes tremendously.

Idea:  Allow for multiple business rules with the same object and operation (trigger)

Current Behavior:  System will not allow multiple business rules on same object and trigger

Benefits of this idea

  • Allows enterprises to create multiple simple rules instead of extremely large and complex formulas
  • Enables quicker implementation with simpler testing
  • Multiple administrative team usage - ability to separate business rules by different areas in an organization (limits risk from other teams impacting your rules)
  • Description and title could be customized for each rule for ease of understanding, expansion and corrections
  • Move from potential large formula chaos to simplified manageable and searchable lists of rules

++1 to this, wildly agree multiple business rules should be allowed for the same trigger event type.

Great idea!

Give our users clear error messages, not cryptic ones! Allowing multiple business rules per object trigger is the solution. Nested IFs just create frustrating guesswork.

My vote's in – let's make this happen!

A quick update from our side after using business rules for the nearly 2 years since they were released.

Rules work great …. but managing enterprise level with hundreds of rules per each object and action has become extremely high risk and challenging!   A bonus option would be to allow to manage by group similar to other objects like status and such.

This would be a great win if we could have multiple active rules per object and action which would remove the risk across teams.   We have had enterprise breaks where admins updated the rules but they were not correct and caused issues on completely unrelated groups.

Image is showing how we have over 120+ business rules embedded in the task edit alone!

Completely agree with this. We’re facing the same challenge in our company, and the sheer number of business rules is becoming really difficult to manage.
