Forcing a Conversion in Target Standard

Hey there. I am singularly a Target Standard user and I'm unable to identify input boxes as a conversion. Using this click event is crucial to measuring the conversion for my experiment. Is there a way to force the conversion if we apply the conversion trigger directly to the element or do I have to use the Visual Experience Composer? I would prefer to just not use the VEC to trigger goal completions and instead use Dynamic Tag Manager since it is infinitely more flexible.

As if now you can achieve this through the VEC however you can submit this in ideas.omniture.com to add as a functionality explicitly
