In Adobe Target Premium you can create 5 different activities:

5. Recommendations.

Adobe Target tool gives you the option to create/run recommendations on your website.
 Adobe Target Recommendations activities automatically display products, services, or content that might interest your visitors based on previous user activity, preferences, or other criteria. Target Recommendations helps the direct visitors to relevant items they might otherwise not know about. Recommendations let you provide your visitors with relevant content at the right time and in the right place.

What Adobe recommendations do is, it has own high quality and accurate algorithm created and we just need to feed the data to algorithms (criteria) and target will personlise experience for user as per his behaviour or his past behaviour on site..

Whereas in Adobe target without recommendations thr r other activities present such as A/B test, experience test, mvt, Ap etc. Which you can use to create multiple experience to compare different designs or other attributes related to your website.. also you can these activities to retargeting customers by creating different set of audiences and use them in xt test.. with help of AP you can perform advance level optimization.
