Unable to Select A/B Test in Smart List/Smart Campaign

Issue

You made an A/B Test within an Email Program, and now when you are in a Smart List or Smart Campaign and are attempting to set up a filter (such as Opened Email), you are unable to locate the A/B test email asset in order to select it.

Solution

When an A/B test is made in an Email Program, the Program must be approved in order for the email to be located by other assets (Smart Lists/Smart Campaigns.)

When the Program is approved, the email asset name will be changed to whatever kind of A/B test is used, and will be available for reference in other assets. For example:

[program name].Subject Line Test; or

[program name].Whole Email Test

Is there any way to figure out which leads received which variant?  For instance I had a whole emails A/B test go out yesterday and I want to repeat the test tomorrow, but I want to make sure that those who received variant A receive variant A again, and those who received variant B receive variant B again, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that.  Can you please confirm if that's true?

Hi @Diane Schmid

You may use a Smart List filter "was sent email" and there will be a constraint you can add: "Test Variant" and you can select which test you are looking for. This will procure a list of leads sent that test.

This information will also be located within the Lead Activity Log.

As for your specific Use Case, you will not be able to perform subsequent A/B tests like that because the product does not have that functionality built in the native A/B sending tool.

You will have to create separate sending campaigns to send out separate emails based on who was sent the test A vs test B.  You can do this with the Smart List filter "was sent email" "Test Variant A" in the sending campaign smart list.

Hi,

We are using Email Program in Default program to do a A/B test and change behavior score based on Email clicks via smart campaign. Though the Email program is approved, Not able to locate the A/B test emails. Please find attached below the screen shot of program structure.

Please suggest if any changes required and help us out.

Hey Amanda  - you will not be able to refer to an email that's part of an AB test in any other program, unfortunately.
