The Difference Between 'Person was Created' and 'Created At' Filters

Issue

Issue Description
Within a Smart List, there are two filters: 'Person was Created' and 'Created At'; both similarly named but qualifying different records.

Solution

Issue Resolution

The 'Person was Created' filter is looking for the activity of when the individual record became known, via form fill or list import, etc. Denoted with the New Lead activity type in the Activity Log.

The 'Created At' filter is looking at the date of when the Marketo record was first created. This date is listed under the Info section on the person record.

Some Marketo records have a difference between when the record was initially created and when the individual became a known record.

An individual could visit a Marketo page for the first time and generate an initial web page visit on May 1st tracked on an anonymous record in the database. Then on May 8th the person fills out a form thereby converting their anonymous record to a known record in the database.

May 1st is the date used for 'Created At' filter, and May 8th is the date used for 'Person was Created' filter.

This is a great explanation and I appreciate the clarification.

Now, when looking into a Person Record in my Database, I don't see these date fields. You would think there would be something called Created At and Person was Created with a date stamp. However,  I can only see the field (or log or whatever) called CREATED  in the person's record. Nothing else.

So, my question is what exactly Does CREATED (highlighted above) reference?  Is it Created At or Person was Created?

Thanks!
Dave

I believe that is Person was Created, though it might actually vary from lead to lead.  You could investigate this by creating two Smart Lists, one with the "Person Was Created" date of July 27, and one with "Created at" July 27, and see which list the lead shows up on.

Now that I read the article more closely, it looks like the answer is there.  "The 'Created At' filter is looking at the date of when the Marketo record was first created. This date is listed under the Info section on the person record."

Thanks Roxann. I went ahead and did a quick smartlist, and found that the "Created" date under the person's "Info" section does in fact align with Created At.  At one point, I recall (maybe in a dream) seeing a date field that went a step further and was stamped when the person became known.

If we can create a smart list that looks at "Person was Created" which is when they became known, not just when they were cookied, where is that field or data in the person's record? I could've sworn it existed in the past.

That Smart List filter is probably looking directly into the Activity Log, rather than at a field on the Person record.  Also, if the lead was never anonymous, "Created at" and "Person was Created" would be the same date.

So does it make sense that 'person was created' will have less records than 'created at'?

Possibly.  It depends on how the filters are set up.
