I clicked an email link and the target page broke

Issue:

I added a link to an external page in one of my emails, when I receive the email and click on the link, it appears to be broken, but I am sure the URL is correct.

Solution:

Marketo adds code to links in emails as we send them out to track clicks. If the destination page is one that does not support URL parameters, the page may not load. This is very rare but in the case that it happens in your testing, you can try disabling tracking for that specific link.

See Disable Tracking for an Email Link for detailed instructions.

This has been happening to use every so often, and it doesn't show up when we send it as a test. It also doesn't show up when we preview the email in Marketo. We only find out after the email has gone out and people tell us it's not working.

Does this mean we need to test every email by sending it out for real to some people instead of just sending as a test message? Or how do I know which kind of URLs don't support URL parameters?

We have the same problem. Did you ever find an answer to this problem?

Please open a new thread in Products and include sample URLs. There is almost always a workaround but we need to see your actual case.
