What does the search button on the top left of Marketo actually do?

Where it says "quick find", I have typed multiple things such as the name of a lead, name of a company - but I have never ever received a single search result. 

What is the search button for?

The search on top left filters the elements of the tree structure, displaying macthing programs/events, their local assets, smart campaigns, static lists, emails, landing pages and similar elements depending on the top menu in use.
