Modern browsers use the back/forward cache (“bfcache”) to accelerate simple ⇦ and ⇨ navigation. Confusingly, the bfcache is different from both the classic HTTP cache and the new Cache API, and its impact on 3rd-party JS isn’t widely measured. The bfcache is dynamically managed and cleaned up by the browser: it doesn’t have user-tweakable settings and can’t be directly turned off. There are also lots of different reasons that the same page might be bfcache-able on one visit but not on the next. This all gives the bfcache a black-box vibe. But the bfcache usually leads only to Good Things™ so people don’t worry about it, aside from some devs trying to make sites as bfcache-able as possible. Interestingly, Munchkin’s backward compatibility (pageview and link tracking still work with old browsers) conflicts with the bfcache design. I’m implementing a new person-level boolean field (flag) to identify leads and contacts acquired via our Marketo programs.Our Salesforce instance is shared across multiple business units, so this flag is intended to identify only the leads acquired via our business unit’s Marketo activity.The intent is forward-looking only (no historical backfill). I want the flag to be set when someone newly engages with relevant Marketo programs going forward, regardless of when the person record was originally created.I’m trying to confirm the best-practice trigger setup for this.One option I’m considering is a trigger campaign based on Person is Created, where the acquisition program is a Marketo program (excluding records syncing from Salesforce), and then setting the flag to true.My goal is a clean, scalable approach that avoids manual maintenance and does not retroactively update legacy records.Would appreciate guidance from anyone who’s implemented a similar pattern. I have mapped the Company Name field in Marketo to both Lead Company and the Account Name in salesforce.When a contact fills out a form and enters a new value in the “Company” field, Marketo updates the local Company Name attribute. Because Marketo’s native sync treats all people associated with the same Salesforce Account ID as a single “Company” entity, this change propagates to every other contact associated with that Account in Marketo.However, this change does not always trigger a sync back from salesforce to reset the name to the actual Account Name unless the contact record in salesforce is manually updated.Is there a way to tackle this issue?
Hi,I have been able to create hyperlinks on fields bought in from a Custom object, however these are not being tracked.All efforts to try and track links have resulted in just the variable being outputted and not the link itself.Firstly is this possible or have I wasted a full morning?If it can be done, what am I doing wrong. Hi, We're working on tracking Demandbase paid ad and third-party ad clicks in Marketo using query strings, UTMs.I understand that, in general, query params may not appear in a specific order, and there could be additional params added by search engines or ad networks.Additionally, when I review the data in GA4 (landing page + query string), I see the Demandbase param (db3id) after the url but not the UTMs.What's the best way to track this in Marketo?
Having a form performance report where completions could be viewed by day, week or month would be of great benefit to users that embed forms on their web pages vs. using Marketo landing pages. This would allow allow users to analyze form completions week-over-week, month-over-month or year-over-year without having to build smart lists for each time frame. It could also be used to see number of form completions over the course of the year by month.Furthermore, smart lists only report unique people that filled out the form within the defined time period, making it incredibly challenging to account for multiple submissions by the same person within that given time period. This report could have two option 1) to report by unique people that completed the form and attribute the most recent completion to its time frame or 2) to report total form completions.
Trying to automate program/campaign creation, but we have 1 smart campaign that requires an event code as a trigger constraint for the custom obejct trigger. We tested using a token for the value, but it was not working. Is there any other way to programmatically populate this?

Today in MSI our sales team can create modified list views for Best Bets using basic "AND" statement logic . In many cases the team would like to be able to configure this list using more advanced logic such as "OR" statements and logic groupings. A AND (B OR C)
Hi there, We have recently began having issues with the module previews for our email templates not showing the placeholder images. Any ideas on how to fix this/what is causing the issue?
When simulating an email in Marketo and trying to add people as recipients, the list of available people is empty. Users can only add recipients if they already know the exact email address and search for it explicitly.This behavior is extremely cumbersome and inefficient, especially for testing purposes. It would be much more user-friendly if existing people records were displayed in the list, allowing users to simply select recipients instead of having to manually search by email address.Additionally, if an audience (e.g. a Smart List or static list) is already defined within the program, it would be very helpful if those audience members could be shown and selected directly during email simulation.Displaying available people and/or program audiences would significantly improve usability, save time, and reduce friction when testing emails.
Trustpilot uses a unique email address placed in a bcc field to pick up the customer email. BCC in marketo seems to apply the unique email to ALL email sends, not specific campaigns/programs from what I undestand.I’m hoping that there is a solution someone has found…!?We’re currently still using TP via our old email set up, but we are looking to phase that out..Any suggestions/advice welcome - thank you in advance!
While being able to list out individual Program cost line items is a useful feature, it's limited by a few things: namely, the ability to only parse certain types of budget information based on information in the note. I would like to build a more robust approach for budget measurement and compliance in Marketo by providing a standardized set of custom fields that could provide more detail in budget analysis. While I would expect to have some of these as fully custom, I think others are widely applicable and may make sense to be in the core product. Some examples of these would include: - Spend Type: Categorizes the primary expense of the campaign (e.g., 'Media Spend', 'Agency Fees', 'Content Creation', 'Sponsorship'). This allows for a more granular analysis of where the budget is going and the ROI on different types of spend.- Budget Source / Team: Tracks which team's budget is funding the campaign (e.g., 'Corporate Marketing', 'Product Marketing', 'Fiel

Hi everyone So I am new to this organization and when I started executing some campaigns I was asked to update the scores in the flow steps of individual programs while we were having an agency update our lead scoring. So for example, when we had list imports come in from content syndication, I was asked to give them 40 points. Well, I assumed that I would be adding this to behavior score since they filled out a form to get into the system, but I was later told they only use person score right now. Is there a way for me to remedy this and add it to the person score without having to go into individual campaigns? If I do have to do it individually, I assume I would make a campaign that takes the 40 points off behavior and then execute another to add to person? Is there a better way to do this?
Hi Team, Please assist with this, is there a way to do A/B test (subject line) of email when there is no fixed audience. We have a nurture campaign with different product suite streams; people qualify in the suite stream based to certain criteria and receive email. Two upcoming deprecations may impact your integration with Marketo Engage and may require action. Previously, both the SOAP API, and the REST API Access Token in Query Parameter were to be deprecated on 31 October 2025. They will now be deprecated on 31 January 2026. The Marketo Engage SOAP API will be fully deprecated on 31 January 2026. Please review if you are still using the SOAP API in one or more of your Marketo subscriptions. To avoid disruptions of service, you will need to retire or migrate any services using the SOAP API to the Marketo Engage REST API by 31 January 2026. Consult the Migration Guide for further information. Marketo Engage Support is only able to provide the IP address of requests made to the SOAP API. On 31 January 2026, the Marketo Engage REST API will no longer accept access tokens for authentication and authorization via the ‘access_token’ query param
I’m working on an email nurture campaign that includes additional trigger emails based on engagement. Specifically, if a user clicks on two different emails, they receive a special trigger email. I’m trying to manage this within a single smart campaign, but I’m unsure if using the same email (e.g., Email 1) in both the “clicks link in email” and “clicked link in email” conditions would count as one click each. The nurture contains 13 emails, and the trigger email can be sent after any combination of two clicks across those 13 emails. In the following screenshots each email from the 13 in the ‘clicks link in email’ are also in the ‘clicked link in email’ filter. Is there a better way?

I am attempting to build a new Smart List that targets members of two other existing Smart Lists (e.g., "Is a member of Smart List A AND Smart List B”). Everything in the Marketo documentation I've found suggests this is completely fine to do. However, The Smart Lists I'm attempting to target do not show up as options in the drop down. I have tried restarting Marketo, restarting my browser, etc. and nothing changes. I have built:Smart List ASmart List B And I want Smart List C to consist of members of BOTH Smart List A and Smart List B. Smart List A and Smart List B do not show up as options to select in Smart List C filtering criteria. Do I need to do something to "Activate" these lists in order to get them to show up?
Hi Team,We have a nurture campaign with three emails and have one stream.The first email was sent, out of which few records didn’t receive email due to communication limits. So, we schedule the email 1 to send via a smart campaign next day.Email 2 and 3 are scheduled to send 2 weeks EVERY 2 WEEKS.Now the question is does the stream tries to send email 1 to people who didnt receive email 1 due to communication limits when email 2 goes out ?.
