Question

how to see what SFDC fields marketo is updating

Hi All!

 

I was wondering if there was a report I could pull from marketo that could show me all of the SFDC fields that marketo is able to make updates to.

There isn’t, but for good reason: Marketo doesn’t keep track of whether SFDC will actually let it (i.e. the SFDC API user) make changes to a given field. Only when it fails is it actually clear that the field is not writable.

Hi!

Can you explain that a little more? Wouldn't we want to see what changes marketo is making to a field and how often it is updating that field especially if we have a bi-directional sync set up?

It’s not that you might not be interested. It’s that Marketo has no idea, right now, whether it can write to a field. It doesn’t constantly test writing to fields (which would be extraordinarily wasteful) in the absence of updates.

 

What Marketo could write to now is something your SFDC Admin knows, because it depends on how the API user is currently permissioned.
