Dynamically Filter Program Status when using "Member of Program" Filter

When using the filter “Member of Program” in a smart campaign, the dropdown shows all program statuses. It would be much more useful if it only displayed the Program Statuses for the channel of the selected program.

I can’t think of a reason why when you’ve chosen a specific program, filtering on statuses not tied to the program’s channel would be needed.

I agree with this. Once a specific program is selected, it would make more sense for the Program Status dropdown to be dynamically filtered based on that program’s channel.

Showing statuses from unrelated channels adds unnecessary noise and makes it easier to select the wrong status, especially in instances with a lot of custom channels/statuses.

I don’t see much value in allowing statuses that aren’t associated with the selected program’s channel either. This would be a nice usability improvement for the Smart Campaign filter.

You’re leaving out that there’s not just one “selected program” in this filter.

Valid point @sandy_logitech ! Sometimes I also find it difficult to find the right status from that long list of channel --> statuses, so I that’s why I responded too quickly here. 😄

How did I miss that there can be multiple programs selected, My bad!

It’s because you can select multiple programs in different channels with the same filter.

While it can seem strange, if the dropdown removed inapplicable channels as you changed the program(s) dropdown, that would be net worse IMO.

I see your point, but personally, If I’m selecting a specific program, or even programs, seeing statuses for programs is extra noise to me.

If I choose a Webinar and a Field event, then I would still only want to see the statuses for those two channels, not for every channel, imo.

What would be in the Program Status dropdown if

  • the Program constraint is [is not] [list of programs] (note currently the statuses are retained if you change between [is] and [is not])
  • the Program constraint is [is any] or [is empty] (including changing the constraint)

I feel the current design is least surprising: as the user navigates the essentially infinite permutations of this filter, they see the same options and the selected values are retained. Changing them to be alphabetically sorted would be an improvement with no downsides.
