Will merging duplicate contacts in MS CRM 2013 also merge these same "leads" in Marketo?

As we're working on cleaning up our database, there are duplicate contacts in MS CRM 2013. If we merge them, will that carry over to Marketo and merge those same duplicate "leads"? Or do I need to merge them in CRM and Marketo both?
