Why is the declare date in an email post dated?

When declaring an email champion within an email test, when does the remainder of the list receive the winning email?  I have combed through the documentation but it is not obviously stated.  Can some one please clearly define what happens when the champion is declared?

Hi Kelly, this article explains it: Champion/Challenger: Declare a Champion - Marketo Docs - Product Docs "When you are ready, you can declare a winner and new champion for your email test." ... "Until the Declare Date, Marketo will continue to send the old champion and challenger(s). Once date/time is reached, only the new champion will be sent"
