Why can't I delete these contacts?

I have a few contacts in my database that do not have email addresses. They are not deemed 'anonymous.' I have manually gone through and deleted several of them out of Marketo, but some refuse to actually delete. I know one of them is a bad contact/lead because it belongs to an old employee of ours and it simply doesn't need to be in there any more.

Are these from SFDC? That's usually what happens - someone uploads a list of names and it syncs over anyway somehow. There's no prohibition in Marketo against this, however, such leads won't dedupe and aren't emailable.

What you can try is to set

Delete Lead CRM=TRUE, but be real sure that's what you want. I'd verify they are in the CRM too.

Thanks, Josh. I have tried that and it's still not working. Wondering if I should submit a support ticket. Message I got:
