Question

Where to begin: Error details: INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_OR_READONLY: insufficient access rights on object

Continuing to see this error day in and day out and already did the Record Type ID fix as recommended in other posts:

Here's what we see:

Salesforce Sync Error

Why: Marketo is unable to update Lead in Salesforce.
Error details:
INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_OR_READONLY: insufficient access rights on object id

Is there a way to know where to begin to look? I also understand going to the SFDC side but not even sure where to direct them as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @kristinasc1 ,

Do you have any screenshots for more data? Example you may be able to tell if a particular field is an issue.  If not you will need to narrow it down to possible fields.

Where to start (tends to be a very common place to go look first).

In SFDC classic.

Access the following:

Setup -> (in the quick search box) type Lead or Contact. (You will probably look in both objects). -> Under Build -> Customize ->  Leads -> Click on Fields -> Scroll to your field (i will use Changeme2) -> Click on the field in question that threw an error

You will check in 2 places. "Set Field-Level Security" and "View Field Accessibility".

  • Set Field-Level Security
    • Check that the field is visible and NOT read-only for the Marketo sync user profile.
  • View Field Accessibility
    • Click the drop down box and select your field.
    • Next to the profile for the sync user click "Editable" or whatever it may say for you there.
    • Check to see if it says "Read-only" in the first row.
