When leads are merged, how does the score and activity merge in Sales Insight?

Hi -

When we merge two leads together, we are noticing that the scored of both leads appends to each other, but then it results in double scoring for the lead. Also, the Sales Insight scoring tab doesn't list the scoring activity in order. It looks weird and confuses our Sales reps.

Can anyone explain the Marketo logic for Sales Insight when lead merging happens? How can we avoid the double score for certain activities.

Hi Shirleen, Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent lead scores getting added up when the leads are merged.

However, you can update the lead score of the primary lead to the merged record after Merge.

  1. - Create a new Integer field as 'Original Lead Score'.
  2. - Run a smart campaign for the leads which you want to merge. Using token, append the original lead score value to the 'Original Lead Score' field.
  3. - Let the merge run. As per MKTO's functionality, the 'Original Lead Score' for the primary record will be saved.
  4. - Once the merge is complete, run a smart campaign to append the value of 'Original Lead Score' to the lead score of the merged record.

This is slightly complicated but can help you solve.
