When duplicate leads come in, will the lead source be updated with a new value?

I have a hidden field on a form for lead source = download form. However, I only want this field to be populated if there is NO lead source yet. That way if the lead already exists in my database and has a value in lead source, the original lead source value is preserved.

Hi Christine,

I think from what you're saying, you'll need to access "Field Management" in "Admin", find the field and adjust its "block" settings"

Hi Christine,

We've implemented this at a Smart Campaign level. Our smart list is a trigger Filled out form = form and our flow say If Lead Source is blank, then Lead Source = Website. Default is left as Do Nothing. Works for all of our forms.

Just remember to remove the hidden field from your form.

Christine,

Pleasee do what Jason C said. I think we did this together awhile back, so just check if your lead source fields are set to block updates from Form Fill Outs. That will ensure they are not overridden. Once this is confirmed, it is safe to leave the hidden field.

Natali's method will work, but I dislike it because it adds extra work for Marketo and extra steps for you to manage in each Program.
