When a contact is created in SFDC via lead conversion, does Marketo recognize that as a "new person created" even though it was an existing lead that was simply converted to a contact?

When a contact is created in SFDC via lead conversion, does Marketo recognize that as a "new person created" even though it was an existing lead that was simply converted to a contact?
No. There is no "new person created" activity on a lead conversion, if the conversion is done using SFDC standard process and if Marketo has access to the newly created contact.
