Whats the best amount of time to leave between sending your email and a resend campaign?

I notice that during my training and introduction to Marketo, the standard amount of time to leave between sending your first email and then resending again to those that do not open emails is around 7 days. 

Do people feel that this is an adequate amount of time? With access to email in almost all facets of our daily lives, should we aim to resend within 24/48 hours to reinforce our desire to communicate with potential/existing customers or is this method too pushy and overbearing?

Interested to get peoples opinions and the average or optimum amount of time.

You should leave a minimum of 72 hours between sends because it takes most people who will engage about that long to have meaningful results in teh data.

I would avoid resending on *just* opens, because opens depends on the lead's email viewer settings. Use does not click too.

Most times I've been asked to do this we leave about 1-2 weeks between sends.

I am also NOT a big fan of doing this because some people do see the email and get annoyed that you keep sending it. So try to mix it up in a nurturing program where you don't keep beating people with the same email each week.

I agree with Josh, 24/48 hours is much too short. We will usually do a 7-10 day wait and use a different subject line so that we are not at the top of their mind in case they did see the original email as Josh suggested. 

Also, we've found that our numbers related to a send really level off after 72 hours and hardly change after that, so when we send one-off emails we do our reporting 72 hours later.

I completely agree. We've done a series of experimentations in email release time of day and day of the week and I think now we will look into finding the optimum follow-up periods too. Thanks for your feedback guys!
