Question

What are your holiday email plans?

Are you sending out Seasons Greetings to customers? When do you usually send yours out? How do you prevent them from being cheesy? How do you manage political correctness here for global brands? Would love to know best practices, and whether you like embedding video, eCards, etc. to your Marketo emails.

Last year we send out personalized video greeting utilizing Vidyard. It had a really good feedback from our customers. Strongly recommend it.

We want to minimize the chances of the holiday customer email appearing unsolicited or spam, so we mostly focus on company news or industry news our customers should know about it. That allows us to plug our company a bit while still wishing them a happy holiday season. I would avoid too many images in the email body though.

We did a really silly holiday animated video and it was one of the most engaged emails of the year and drove a huge spike in traffic to our website so I am a big fan of holiday emails.  We sent it around 2nd week of December.  We weren't really pitching a product or anything but wove in the company value proposition into a holiday themed story.

Patricia Lalisan - thanks for the reminder! We've had some turnover on our team, so this was a good kick to get the conversation started. Not sure what we're doing, but at least it won't be a fire drill three weeks from now!
