I'm new to Marketo. What are the ways to create duplicate records in Marketo?

Hi Prithvi,

Not sure what you mean. You are trying to create two records in Marketo with the same email address? You can't. Marketo uses email address as a unique identifier. If you see two records in Marketo with the same email address is because they come from different sources. And in this case, is not good to have duplicates in Marketo. They will have a negative effect on your data segmentation, content tailoring, lead scoring, compliance, etc.

  • Create a duplicate record manually via the Lead Database UI
  • Create a duplicate record in an integrated CRM (Marketo does not dedupe on new records originating in CRM)
  • Create a record via API through a call with the createDuplicate action
  • Contact Support and ask for an additional deduplication field to be added on your instance

I think that's all of them.
