To directly answer your question, yes, if you look in Admin » Tags in an untouched Marketo instance there are a few default Channels. Did you look there?

If you are planing to implement Channels in Marketo, the best approach would be to review which all type of campaign you would be running on Marketo: like - Webinar, In-person Events, Content Program, Linkedin paid ads, Facebook Social ads, webinars Forms, Blogs, Email, Direct Email, Nurture campaign, purchase list, Operational, scoring etc.

here are some example of channels:

		Engaged	20
		Converted (Success)	30	Yes
		Converted-High Value	30	Yes
		Converted-Low Value	30	Yes
