View progress of import job

Let's say you start an import of leads into your database and accidentally close the little "Status Box" before entering your email to receive a notification when the job is complete. Is there any way, anywhere, where you can view/monitor the status of the import job? (We import big lists, it can take several hours.) If there isn't a screen you can view current jobs, is there a way to set it up so that you ALWAYS receive a notification when an import job is complete?
