UTM tracking to scale promo sources for programs

I am looking for the best way to use UTM parameters to see what channels are most effective for campaigns. For example, I am promoting a webinar and want to provide our inside sales team, partners, social, etc with a custom url's to measure where we have the best conversions for the webinar. I am thinking I could run a smart campaign but having trouble setting it up.
