Utilizing a dynamic field

Hello Marketo Community,

Is there a way to use a flow to update a field with a constantly changing variable?

I want to store the value of the last email I sent to a contact or lead in a field, and I want that field to contain the date of that most recent email. Does Marketo have some type of Dot Notation? Where I could for example say Example field = EmailName.Date?

Thank you,

Peter Steuber

Hi Peter,

No this does not exist.

But you can use the {{system.datetime}} token as a new value for your field in a triggered campaign.

Dunno about a trigger on Sent Email on a high-traffic instance.  Maybe a daily off-hours batch would be better, and you would only have to update a lead a maximum of once per day (even if they received multiple emails).

Hi Sanford,

Yes, you are surely right, a trigger on a send email is a sure way to overload the Marketo instance
