Unsubscribe token - all or nothing?

With the new unsubscribe token, I'm curious how this works with the settings in the admin section.

I will want to use this new feature for some emails but for the majority, I still want the unsubscribe text footer included in the emails. Is there a way to just remove this from those you are adding the link to? Or do you have it in every email still but ALSO include the token in some?

I think the idea is that you place your universal subs mgmt link in the Admin section, then you can reference it with system.unsubscribelink

But maybe I'm wrong about that one.
