Unsubscribe in marketo

In Marketo, how does the unsubscribe functionality work?

a) Is the unsubscribe related to the campaign the contact is associated with

b) Is unsubscribe global to all campaigns. If they unsubscribe to one campaign, it unsubscribe to all

    There are different types.  You can read all about it in the documentation.  Understanding Unsubscribe - Marketo Docs - Product Documentation 


    Have you got a subscription center built? You can have different options deployed here to try and reduce a global unsubscribe.  If you search the community there are various other discussions about it.

      Hi Ashwini,

      Unsubscribe is a true or false field and is not on a per program basis. If an individual unsubscribes from any email, that field will be set to true and they will no longer receive any marketing emails (they will still receive operational emails).

        I am new to marketo what does operational emails mean

        This means the system will ignore unsubscribe settings and send to everyone in your list. This should only really be used for important customer emails, for instance if their was an outage and you needed to let all of your customers know. There is good documentation on this in the docs area.
