Tracking Videos in YouTube, Vimeo and external LP

Hi, I'm looking for a platform to track % watched videos on Youtube, Vimeo, and External LPs. Which tools would you recommend? I have seen Vidyard and Wistia. Could you give more info based on your experience (positive and negative) of both? Or, would you recommend other suppliers? Thanks. Andreia

Seems you're mixing together percent-watched tracking and a new video hosting platform. These are very different questions.

What exactly do you want to see in Marketo for video plays? You can do simple percent-watched tracking with YouTube or Vimeo directly into Marketo, no need for another platform.

Hi Sanford, thank you for your comments. I would need to track video performance based on the lead (Marketo data). Today I can see if our videos have been watched but I don't know how long contacts watched, engaged or dropped off. Does that make sense? I have videos on YouTube, External LP and Vimeo. Is it possible to track all without a external tool?

"External LP" isn't a type of hosting platform but yes.

I've provided the code for both YouTube and Vimeo Munchkin-based tracking over the past couple of years, if you search my past Nation posts.

Are you looking for a video hosting platform? Brightcove is another option. You can get % watched from any tool though.

In order to push that data to Marketo -> Create video custom activity and inject video data to that.

CAs create a DoS vulnerability for this application unless carefully batched. Far better to use Munchkin events.

Years ago a person wrote a munchkin based tracking script for Wistia videos. It was shared on her blog and free to use. Now Wistia has taken that and commercialised it as an "Integration".

If you have the resources to write your own javascript APIs, it's completely possible, just check the developers documentation for each hosting platform. Otherwise, feel free to purchase an "integration" with your hosting platform
