Tracking alert emails

Is there a way to track whether a rep opens and/or clicks a link in a lead alert email?  

We're wanting to have greater accountability amongst our sales teams and want to know if this is an option on the Marketo side.  Unfortunately, we currently lack CRM integration which would normally address this need.  Any ideas?

Hey Jace,

You can create a record for each rep. Then, when they are sent an email (alert), their behavior can be tracked just like a Lead. You can create alerts to inform you if they have checked the Lead or not. Quick question: how are your reps viewing Leads? Maybe there is something I am not considering.

When you say create a record for each rep, are you saying to add them as "leads" themselves to track their activity that way?

We have a proprietary CRM that we use in house for the reps to view the leads.

Yeah, we have all of our sales team in Marketo because we were sending weekely Marketing updates and were curious how many people were actually looking at them. Once you get your CRM figured out, I would make sure to add all of your employees as Contacts on an Account to avoind confusion.

Seems like the best road to go down is to require the Reps to update a field in the CRM based on the alert you sent them. This will give you the framework for Service Level Agreements.
