Switching from emails to programs in engagement program

I'm rolling out a series of engagement programs that use emails, but am starting to question if I should have set them up as programs instead.

If I wanted to switch the setup at this point, all I would need to do is add the people who have received emails so far to the new corresponding programs, and they wouldn't receive those same emails again now that they're programs in the stream -- is that correct?

Are you placing the programs within the Engagement Streams or separately as standalone programs?

If the email ID is the same, then yes, they won't get the same email. If you have cloned those emails to the Program, then the Stream will see those as new emails.

The programs would be outside of the engagement stream, but I would add all the leads who received Email A to Program A, so it was my understanding that when programs are in a stream, it checks for membership. If they're existing members of the program, it skips to the next one and in effect, skips Email A. Am I mistaken?
