SugarCRM Connector & Target Creation

We are setting up a new Marketo instance, and have activated the SugarCRM Connector following the product documentation.

However, it would appear that every Person record created in Marketo is getting created in Sugar as a Lead, even if they should only be marked as a Target.

Does anyone know how to appropriately distinguish Leads and Targets via the connector so that we don't flood our sales team?
