Spam Laws regarding Forward to a Friend link

We are implemeting the "Forward to a Friend link" within our nurture email campaigns. Would it break spam laws if we started emailing the "friend that was fowarded"? For instance, if our email was forwarded to a co-worker, are we allowed to start emailing that co-worker?

Hi Becca, when forward to a friend is used I believe the first email is sent, but then the person is listed as Unsubscribed in Marketo. They will need to take an action to be opted into any of your future emails. Our interpretation of the laws is that you would be breaking them if you email them more than just the forward to a friend email.
