Smart List Samples for A/B Test Emails

I would like to begin doing A/B testing with my emails while utilizing our smart lists. I am looking for a way to split a smart list within marketo, so each time  I send an A/B email I don't have to pull a list from Sales Force and upload two lists into  Marketo.

Is there a way to do this that exists or a way we could make this happen?

Is there a reason why you simply can't use the random sample feature? The campaign would be:

Smart List:  Is member of X Smart list
Flow:  If Random Percent is 50% send Email A; If Random Percent is 50% send Email B.

Keith--

The main use case (for us at least) is using this in our nurturing track campaigns, where there are mutiple emails (and Send Email steps) in the flow action. We're looking for a way to split our smart lists so that we don't have to have a separate smart campaign for each email in the nurture track.

We are building a true Email Test Feature that includes a AB Split test and Champion Challenger Test.  You will not have to use Random Sample with this new feature.  Due in Q4 2013.

That's awesome, Cheryl!

Can you give any amount of detail at all on what this new feature will accomplish/entail?

Many thanks,
Hoi

It will allow you to create an AB Test on an email:  test types will be Subject line, whole email, from address and date.  It will be available for use in both batch (AB split test where you send the test to a small percentage and the winner to the rest) versus in Trigger campaigns (an ongoing test called CHampion Challenger where you "challenge" your current winner by running an ongoing test.
