Question

Should I merge Duplicates in Marketo or SFDC?

Hey Everyone,

We have a fairly large number of duplicates in Marketo, and I'm trying to find the best way to merge them. The biggest question is should we merge the duplicate leads in Marketo or SalesForce. I have read article recommending both, but merging in SFDC seems to be a little bit more common.

Does anyone have any advice? Are there any cons to merging dups in SFDC?

Thanks a lot for the help,

Cam

Hi Cam,

I would suggest you to do that in Marketo as this is fairly easy here and post that just sync them to SFDC.

There is a special functionality that Marketo Provides is Possible Duplicates. You can leverage that so this.

Both have essentially the same functionality. SFDC seems to be a bit faster at times. You can't go wrong with either.

Not sure it really makes a difference.  For one-offs I'll typically merge duplicates in SFDC since Marketo can be slow at times and I think there's greater priority to merge there first anyways.

DemandTools offers a great de-duping tool that we use when merging on a mass scale but this is only done once, maybe twice a year.
