SFDC Lead Source - writing text into a picklist field type

I've seen this working before. Right now we are implementing Marketo and have a "change data value" on our forms to update the lead source. In Marketo we've added unique identifiers in the lead source but in testing the lead sources we defined in Marketo aren't coming through in SFDC. It's populating with one of the picklist values instead.

Any ideas on why that might be happening.
Cheers,
Richard

Richard,

Sounds like you have some what of a workflow loop.
Check you workflows around the lead object, if you can't do that get your SFDC admin to help.

Try writing in an excepted value for the picklist. If it takes and doesn't reset, then the issue is a triggered workflow.
The workflow is 80% of the time in SFDC. Although it may be in Marketo.

Can you post a screen shot?

You could use hidden form fields and parameter values - that might work better.

Also check if you are field blocking at the wrong time.

I'm not sure why SFDC isn't accepting the Lead Source. Did you check the log on the leads you are testing? Usually you can insert anything in there, even if it isn't on the picklist.

In the activity log it's showing that it's changing the data value from [null] to what we defined and then another trigger is changing it back from the lead source value to null.

It does look like it's an issue in SFDC. I haven't been able to track down the specific workflow as or yet but still hunting.

Hey Richard,

Have you verified that the field is writable by the sync user in SFDC?
