Question

Send email to a contact with a specific opportunity role on an opp at a specific stage

Is this possible?  i.e. when an opportunity reaches a certain stage e.g. proposal, and a checkbox (on the opportunity) has been set to true, e.g. send email x, an email is sent to the contact which has a defined contact role on the opportunity e.g. decision maker.

My use case is in SFDC.

My work around is to create a campaign that individuals can be added to when an opp reaches a certain stage.  Being added to the campaign would trigger the email send.  Or potentially to create a check box on the contact record which by checking would simply fire the email.  Any other alternatives if no solution?

Is your contact role field synced from salesforce to Marketo? If so, then you can trigger off the certain stage and add filters for opportunity is true and contact role is decision maker.

I have had a look and I can't see it, neither can I see it in Field Management as it's not an Opportunity field, but related to the Opportunity.  Am I missing something here?

Hey Mark,

Role should be a constraint that you can add to the filter/trigger. I just checked mine and I see the option to add it, but interestingly it did not provide the dropdown that I know is available within SFDC. I would make sure to test, but the option should be there.

You might be able to do this, but you'll need to have roles mapped to the contacts and then synced into Marketo.

If your business model includes multiple opportunities per account, this won't be reliable.
