Question

Salesforce ID

Hi all,

We are currently facing an issue in our Lead Database of many records without SFDC Id's. This is an issue because account owner fields are not pulled into Marketo so when we send an email out in the Account Owners name it does not populate or update.

Some cases we are pulling records from Salesforce and into Marketo through the smart campaign smart list criteria. Other instances we are importing a list into Marketo, which does not import the SFDC if it is a new lead. How is everyone else handling this issue? Is the only way a SFDC ID can be carried with a record into Marketo when it is pushed down from Salesforce to Marketo?

Thanks!

Hi Amanda,

Yes, this is the only way. SFDC ID's are for sync'ed records only. and in Marketo, this field is read only, and it cannot be pulled as a filter in a smart list either.

When you import lists in Marketo, Marketo will deduplicate based on email addresses, not on SFDC ID's.

If what you want to do is to create your targets in SFDC, the best way is to create a campaign in SFDC, then import your target in SFDC as members of this campaign, and finally use a "member of SFDC campaign" filter in Marketo.

Thanks Greg, thats what we have been doing, but we were trying to minimize the amount of campaign members. Our SFDC table of members had about 6 million. No easy way when you have a lot of data!

Any chance you can export and delete campaign member records that are more 3 years old? That could help clean up your campaign member table in SFDC.
