Restricting update of name field from Marketo to SFDC

Can you restrict Marketo from updating name fields in SFDC?  If yes, can this be accomplished by updating the Marketo Sync user's permissions in Salesforce to "read only" on the name field?

You can block field updates for that field in Admin.

Field Management > Find the field > Field Actions > Block Field Updates.

    Thank you Sydney.  Would this block restrict updates to the contact field in both directions?  So from Salesforce to Marketo as well?
