Required Field with Initial Value

Hello,

I am a new Marketo user.  I've got a question regarding required fields and initial values.
I'm wondering a few things:

1) If I have an "initial value" in a required field (*) can a customer submit this form without filling it out due to the initial value.
2) If the form is submitted, will the lead generated have the "Initial value" in the required field (Bad data).
3) Is there a way to have the "initial value" show up in a required field but not allow the form to be submitted unless it is filled out by the customer before submitting.

Let me know if i can make this clearer or if you have a possible suggestion or information.

Thank you :)

M.

Hi Mike,

To answer your questions:

#1 and #2 - Yes, you can submit with the value filled in, and it would be visible in Marketo.

For #3, I suspect you could build some custom Javascript validation to prevent form submission with the default values, although it would be somewhat involved.
