Report on Email Addresses with Same Domain

We have had a number of people who have unsubscribed an email address very similar to another address in our lead database. Example scenario: 
  1. I send an email to John Doe via "jdoe@example.com"- in the database as subscribed
  2. John gets the email routed through his other alias "doe@example.com"
  3. John unsubscribes the alias I do not have a record for =  "doe@example.com"
  4. I send another email to jdoe@example.com, the subscribed alias
  5. John calls me irate because I sent him an email after he "unsubscribes"
I know we could have used the unsub form better which is being fixed. But is there a way to run a report on email addresses with the same domain so I can see if there are other potential John Does out there?

Sure, just do a smart list with

Email Address CONTAINS @domain.com

Really gets frustrating when they have a different domain that forwards e.g. Jeff@mfc.com and Jeff@myfakeco.com and they unsub from one but still get the forwarded messages from the other. #firstworldproblems

The problem is I do not know the domain for Josh's example Email Address CONTAINS @domain.com

In other words I know they are out there since I got a few complaints already, just not sure who

Yes there are more pressing problems in the world but when I have lawyers threating me with can spam compliance action it becomes quite a serious issue

Was not trying to take away from the seriousness of the situation it is just not something that can be addressed automatically. I would suggest adding the option to add additional email addresses when unsubscribing. Also having the intended recipient email address in the email footer makes it easier for recipients to know which email they need to be unsubscribing. You will have to look but I don't think you are responsible if a recipient unsubscribes one email but not another.

Nice, good tip for moving forward about putting the address in the footer.

Also in the future the email address should be pulled into the form automatically from the email click, it was just not set up that way for my last couple sends. That is why I am in this pickle!
