Question

Remove old SFDC campaigns from marketo view

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone knows how to remove SFDC campaigns that are no longer in use from Marketo. We have a lot of legacy SFDC campaigns, and it becomes difficult to create a smart list using the filter "member of SFDC campaign" with all of these old campaigns cluttering my view!

Thanks in advance!!

Erin

Hi Erin,

That's a good question, because I ran a test and checking the campaign to "inactive" in SFDC does not have any impact.

On the other end, this filter might need to refer to any campaign, even some inactive ones, so I a not sure it would be a good idea if some campaigns were removed from the filter.

The list of SFDC campaigns might be 'cached' at the Marketo server (your instance). I am not sure if Marketo support can 'refresh' the cache after you mark all 'unwanted' SFDC campaigns as inactive. Did you try to contact support?

I think this 'cache' might (hopefully) just apply for the 'dynamically filling' the SFDC campaign values as you type in the smart list criteria. And would not invalidate smart campaigns that are already set.

Hi Rajesh,

I ran a test, with some campaign that have been marked as inactive recently and some others a while ago. All of them still show in the droplist.

And frankly, I prefer it that way. Marking a campaign as inactive in SFDC does not mean I would not want to be able to select their members as targets for future other campaigns.

You can vote here, though:

I agree, Greg. I prefer that too personally.

But it seems Erin might be having too many of these SFDC campaigns. For me, when I type a couple of characters, appropriate SFDC campaign shows up file. So I do not see this issue as a hindrance.

It would be good to know if 'clearing of drop down cache' is indeed possible, though.
