Remove Marketo tracking query string from links in emails

The query string that Marketo adds to URLs in emails sent from Marketo is causing our software download links (.exe) to download without a file extension when downloaded through Internet Explorer.  If we remove the query string that is added after the URL extension the file downloads with no problem.

Has this happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to fix it?  It would be good to know if there is a way to add a link in an email and not have Marketo add a query string to it.

That sounds perfect. Time to test it out; thanks!

Is there a better solution for this rather than disabling tracking? We still want to be able to track the link.

Also, we have noticed this only happens in Internet Explorer (tested with version 9). Does anyone have any input on why this mgiht be occuring?

We are having the same problem with .exe files and Internet Explorer. We have campaigns that trigger off of these clicks, so it would be nice to have this work with this browser.

I'm with Alicia, is there any other solutions to this problem?

@Alicia

What we ended up doing was creating a URL that would redirect to the .exe file. This way we could use the link as a trigger for our smart campaign and still have the user receive their file in IE. Not ideal, but works.

Thanks - that's what we did as well, but like you say it's not ideal. Was hoping to move away from this approach.
