Does anyone use purposeful leads where leads are shared amongst different business units?

Do you mean Purposeful Duplicates?

There are some threads on this. It's challenging and generally not recommended. Sometimes you can build SFDC out to share the same Lead record among reps or use a special product object.

Yes, I meant purposeful duplicates. I'll try and look for previous discussions on that topic.
