Every time I try to merge two leads in Marketo, I always get this error below. Please provide this capability. Why hasn't Marketo built support for this capability yet?

Is there any update on this? We can merge the leads in Dynamics, but that doesn't seem to make a difference since it doesn't merge them in Marketo. This is causing several issues for us.

Hi Meahgan - we're not experiencing this behavior.  When merging leads in CRM, the merge then takes place in Marketo (about 10-15 minutes later).  Are you sure both leads in CRM are the same ones referenced in Marketo?  Don't forget, they also need to be of the same MS Type (contact or lead) in order to merge.

Hi Dan,

Yes, they are the same. For some reason they're not attaching to the same email address. We're working with support on it, but was just wondering if it would ever be a possibility to merge them in Marketo.

I have to believe your team can find a way to make this possible. I feel like there are a lot of things that don't work as well with Dynamics as they do with Salesforce. It would be nice to have these functions working properly. Do we have an update on when this will be released?

I completely agree, Kimia. Myself and my CRM developer are struggling getting MSD integrated properly with Marketo and the lack of ability to merge contacts is killing my database.

I'm really hoping this is something getting updated in 2020. I think someone from Marketo mentioned in a phone call (Jan or Feb 2020) with our company (Crisis Prevention Institute) this was on the road map for 2020? This was before COVID19 took over in March though so not sure if that release deadline was pushed back. Does anyone have information on this? We use MS Dynamics 365 on the cloud and really want to clean up our Marketo duplicates!

Yes we REALLY need this functionality.  It is making our instance so cluttered with no end in sight.  We use Dynamics 365 integrated with Marketo.

Another bump on this please (or a workaround solution if anybody has one). We have had instances where someone gets created as a new lead in Marketo, but then goes through our separate purchase path which creates them as a contact BEFORE the Marketo>Dynamics sync has completed. This means when the lead tries to sync to Dynamics it fails as the email address already exists as a contact, but Dynamics syncs a contact back to Marketo.  I need to merge these so everything is on the Contact in Marketo. It can't be done in Dynamics as the Lead does not exist there, only the Contact, so I need to do it in Marketo.

 

We are currently looking at a solution to stop it happening again, but I really need a way of fixing the ones that already exist as duplicates.
