Possible to Change "Created" date?

It seems marketo uses time created in marketo, but we have a created time that the user was registered - which is outside marketo. There may be a delay between user created on outside system and user added to marketo.

How can I have an actual created date that wont change once set, and this can be queried on e.g. get users actually created today. Would this just be a custom variable?
