Pop up on page load

Does anyone have experience with setting a pop up form to appear on page load? I see a lot of information on "clicks". 

I'm looking for the pop up form to capture an email address before the user can see my landing page.

Adam,

Do a search for "modal on page load" for some tips on how to do this with Javascript/jQuery.

You won't make many friends (or get many conversions) asking for someone's personal information before showing them any content. I would not advise our clients to take this approach.

Thank you Jason, I'll look into the modal.

I agree with you, this is not the best approach and for that reason we are doing a small scale test.
