Personalization options for a newsletter

My company is in the financial services industry with financial representatives across the country. I am exploring possibilities for sending a newsletter to current customers that appears to be from the customer’s financial representative but is really sent from the corporate marketing team. Does anyone know what personalization features are available in Marketo? Variable sender name, sender email, reply-to email? Is it possible to add a variable representative photo into the newsletter? Any pros/cons to this approach? Any insights are appreciated!

Yes, all those components can be personalized/made dynamic: the From: address, From: name, and Reply-To: address (we wouldn’t usually say “sender” for clarity) can use {{lead.tokens}} or  {{my.tokens}}, including Velocity {{my.tokens}} for advanced logic.

The photo can also use a {{lead.token}} (for example, {{lead.Sales Owner Photo Thumbnail}}), a Velocity {{my.token}} for flexibility, or a snippet. There are whole worlds of possibilities in Marketo.

However, you should be very wary of setting the From: to the rep’s email address. This means the rep will receive OoO autoresponses, which quickly becomes overwhelming! That’s the reason we still usually send from a dedicated marketing address, or sometimes a slightly tweaked alias (think jo.b.maxwell@example.com when the real address is jo.maxwell@example.com, where the former is merely an alias for the marketing inbox).
