Hi,

I want to do some analysis of the Search Phrases visitors use to find our site.

Is it possible to write a report that lists the search phrases?

Thanks

I would create a smart list in Lead Database as follows:

Then I'd create a new view showing Original Search Engine & Original Search Phrase. With this method you get a nice list of all search phrases which you can then export to Excel. For some reason you can't add this variable into the view in Analytics Reports which is why we have to make a smart list in the db.

Hope that helps!

I don't understand how to "create a new view" - I cannot see how to do that - can you explain.

It seems rediculious that I cannot write a report like this in analytics - I should be able to display any or all of the fields.

To create a new view:

  1. Go to the Smart List you've created in Lead Database
  2. Click Leads to see the list of leads
  3. Click the View dropdown in the top left > Create View
  4. In the hidden columns find bar, type "Original Search"
  5. Select both Original Search variables and click add to make them visible columns
  6. Click save, then scroll right and you should see your new columns in the database
  7. You now have a tidy list of search queries!
