Opt-out question - please help

I know that Marketo has the ability to send operational emails which skip/bypass opt-out rules, should we need to send an email that everyone must receive.

  • What I want to know is, if we want to send out a product announcement email - and someone says they don’t want to receive these types of emails - and we’ve flagged it as such, can you confirm that Marketo will honor that? So yes, they receive optional emails, but won’t receive other emails such as that product announcement
  • What is the best way to approach this?

Please move the question to Products (Move link at the right). This isn't a support space, it's for webmaster feedback about the Community site itself.

Operational emails skip system-level suppression rules.

They don't skip your manually created filters.

So if, for example, a Smart List requires that someone have a custom Boolean field Receive Product Announcements set to true in order to qualify for a send, if someone's value is false they won't qualify merely because the email is operational.
