Opportunities & OpportunitiesRoles disabled for REST and not for SOAP

For the same account Opportunities and OpportunitiesRoles are disabled for REST and are working fine for SOAP why is that? I can very well retrieve data from those tables using SOAP API but getting Disabled for REST API. I saw in the documentation that Opportunities and OpportunitiesRoles are disabled for CRM enabled instance but the question is why are they working for SOAP and not for REST.

SOAP is being sent to the scrap pile apparently. Don't know when, but very interesting that it still allows Opportunities to be created. Are you actually using it to create Opps? Or have you just noticed that it's possible; in theory?

The ability to enable the Opportunity module [or better yet, never disable it in the 1st place] would have saved me a lot of hassle!
