One to One communication and CANSPAM laws

This question doesn't exactly deal with Marketo but rather CANSPAM in general.  If your sales reps are using Salesforce to send one to one communications to prospects do we have to include an unsubscribe on the email message?

I think it is a good rule of thumb to always include Unsubscribe links.

Two things to note:

  • Each email the violates the CAN-SPAM act is subject to penalties of up to $16,000
  • Good rule of thumb is to honor unsubscribe within 30 days.
